Graduation Update (Updated 4/21/20)

The Weaubleau School Board and Administration recognizes that the graduation ceremony is an important milestone event in our graduating seniors’ lives.  Graduation has been postponed. We recently sent a survey to the Class of 2020 for feedback on contingency plans for graduation since we are not able to hold the ceremony as scheduled on May 8. It was very clear, a strong majority of the class preferred a postponed traditional graduation ceremony over some type of alternative graduation.

We plan to hold graduation on  Friday, June 26 at 7:00 if the public health guidelines allow.  Our alternative date will be Friday, July 31 @ 7:00.   Also, the location will be at the WHS main gym, unless restrictions require alternative locations. If we are still not able to have a traditional graduation on these dates, we will defer to alternate ceremony format on July 31. The details for that ceremony would be based on survey results and guidelines from public health agencies.

Prom Update (Updated 4/22/2020)

We plan to hold Prom on Friday, June 19 if the public health guidelines allow. We have not scheduled an alternative date at this time.

How is the district going to handle assigning credit for work students complete during the closure? (Updated 4/21/20)

K-12 grading policy for covid-19 school closure.

It is the district-wide expectation that students complete the work assigned to them by their teachers, to the best of their abilities. We recognize the challenge this poses.

Since school will not be in session for the remainder of the school year the following grading guidelines will be implemented:

  • 4th quarter grades will be given as “hold harmless” from 3rd quarter grades so that the resulting semester grade could not be less than the 3rd quarter letter grade.

  • Students will not be penalized for complications caused by factors outside their control.

  • 4th quarter grades could be improved from the 3rd quarter letter grade based on a holistic interpretation by the teacher coming from a combination of both quality and quantity of work.(AMI’s, assignments prior to closure)

  • The resulting semester grade from this interpretation could not be higher than 1 full letter grade above the hold harmless 3rd quarter letter grade.

  • Dual credit classes are sponsored and controlled by the sponsoring college. All dual credit classes will follow the requirements of the sponsoring college even if the student in the dual credit class has not signed up for the college credit.

  • Regularly scheduled Odyssey class assignments must be completed up to March 13. Additional assignments may be completed in order for students to raise their grade.

  • Students who were required to complete Odyssey outside the school day are still expected to complete the course.  Students may contact Ms. London if they have questions or want additional assignments unlocked: karmin.london@weaubleau.k12.mo.us

  • Students who do not have access to the technology to complete their dual credit or Odyssey assignments may contact Mr. Garder: brian.gardner@weaubleau.k12.mo.us

  • Students can email teachers with any questions or concerns about their assignments.

What about Dual Credit Classes? (Updated 4/7/20)

Students should continue to complete the coursework online. All instructors have opened their classes so that students can work at their own pace and have one final deadline for all work to be turned in. If a student does not have internet access to finish the course they must notify Mrs. Seay (unity.seay@weaubleau.k12.mo.us)  as soon as possible

How will the school closer affect the A+ Information? (Updated 4/7/20)

Seniors who had at least a 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA at the end of the fall of 2019 or spring 2020 semester will be eligible for A+. The total number of required tutoring/mentoring hours has been reduced to 25 to accommodate those students who were unable to complete their 50 hours prior to high school graduation. The Algebra I End-of-Course exam requirement has been waived for all 2020 high school seniors, including those who have already taken the exam but did not meet the requirement in addition to those who have not yet taken the exam. Waiver of this requirement also exempts the 2020 seniors from having to meet the ACT math subscore/high school GPA alternative.

The yearbook staff needs your help! Without school, spring sports, field trips, and social gatherings our yearbook members are missing opportunities to take pictures of our students. If you have pictures of your children at school, recent school events, or right now at home (doing homework, playing, having family time, etc) we want your pictures! We will be accepting photos through May 30th, 2020.
