What is Weaubleau R-3 doing about at-home learning while school is out? (Updated 4/7/20)

Teachers at all levels developed 3 weeks of plans for at-home learning that went home on March 18.  These will be collected on Tuesday, April 14 during food pickup time from 12:00-5:00.

New AMI’s will be distributed on Tuesday, April 14 through email and/or folders at food pickup time from 12:00-5:00.

When will school resume?

Currently, plans are to resume classes on Tuesday April 28. Prior to April 28, Weaubleau R-3 will meet with health officials from surrounding counties for an update to ensure this remains the most appropriate course of action. The closing of schools due to a global pandemic is uncharted territory for schools in the U.S. School officials rely on local health department partners to make decisions that will be in the best interest of student and staff safety and that will help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the region.

When’s the last day of school?

The last day of school is currently May 15th.

How often should students check their school email?

Students need to be checking school email on a daily basis.  Please stay in contact with your teachers.

How is the district going to handle assigning credit for work students complete during the closure? (Updated 4/7/20)

It is the district-wide expectation that students complete the work assigned to them by their teachers, to the best of their abilities. We recognize the challenge this poses.

Here are the important points:

-First 3 weeks of AMI’s will be collected on April 14.

-Students will receive points for their work.

-Students will not be penalized for complications caused by factors outside their control.

-Students can email teachers with any questions or concerns about their assignments.

- Second 4 weeks of AMI’s will be handed out on April 14.

-These are considered enrichment to prepare students for their return to school.

-These AMI’s will not be collected, but may be used by the teacher upon return to school.

-Students can email teachers with any questions or concerns about their assignments.

How will the school closer affect the A+ Information? (Updated 4/7/20)

Seniors who had at least a 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA at the end of the fall of 2019 or spring 2020 semester will be eligible for A+. The total number of required tutoring/mentoring hours has been reduced to 25 to accommodate those students who were unable to complete their 50 hours prior to high school graduation. The Algebra I End-of-Course exam requirement has been waived for all 2020 high school seniors, including those who have already taken the exam but did not meet the requirement in addition to those who have not yet taken the exam. Waiver of this requirement also exempts the 2020 seniors from having to meet the ACT math subscore/high school GPA alternative.

Prom has been postponed at this time.  We hope to reschedule at a later time.

What about graduation for seniors on May 8th? (Update 4/7/20)

Weaubleau R-3 has made no decisions yet regarding graduation or other end-of-the-year events to date. We know these are important milestones in a student’s life and the district will communicate on any necessary change of plans if needed as soon as possible.

Seniors will be receiving a survey for their input. Please check your email regularly

What about Dual Credit Classes? (4-7-20)

Students should continue to complete the coursework online. All instructors have opened their classes so that students can work at their own pace and have one final deadline for all work to be turned in. If a student does not have internet access to finish the course they must notify Mrs. Seay (unity.seay@weaubleau.k12.mo.us)  as soon as possible.

My child is a senior. How does this impact my child’s ability to graduate and access transcripts, teacher recommendations, scholarship applications and other support for my child’s pursuit of college or post-secondary education?

Weaubleau High School counselor, Mrs. Seay, will continue to provide Seniors and their families updates regarding these matters as information becomes available.  Seniors are encouraged to subscribe to the Class of 2020 Remind, visit the Counselor’s Corner webpage and contact Mrs. Seay by email, as needed. It’s important that all students, including seniors, continue to complete assignments through the at-home learning procedures provided by teachers.
