Re-opening COVID Plan 2020
It is the desire of the Weaubleau School District for our students to safely return to campus this August. We feel we can provide the best education for our students on site and in our classrooms. The District has developed health-related protocols which were created in conjunction with the local Health Departments in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The protocols are based on best practices from schools and businesses around the area and recommendations from DESE, our staff and our community.
Currently, we are planning for our students to return to school full time with safety measures in place. School policies must be flexible in responding to new information and we must be willing to refine approaches when specific policies are not working or new information dictates. These plans are intended to mitigate, not eliminate risk. NO single action or set of actions will eliminate the risk of COVID-19.
Parents who choose not to send their students to school will have access to our Alternative Learning System with an approved application. If a student/parent chooses online learning because of COVID, they cannot change methods until the end of the semester.
We ask for your patience and grace as we work through this together.

We appreciate your continued patience as we navigate uncertain and evolving times. We wanted to provide you with some updates.
We are very excited to be holding Graduation on June 26th at 7pm in the Weaubleau Gymnasium. Current guidelines from the State of Missouri are 25% capacity for gatherings. As of right now, this allows for ten guests per senior participating in the graduation. Guidelines and information are evolving, so we do not know if this number will change prior to June 26th but are optimistic that it could. As of right now each participating senior will receive ten seats unless otherwise notified. Additionally, we will have a limited number of seats for community members. Other guidelines such as social distancing will be followed, and we will be sharing more event details in the coming weeks. The event will also be live-streamed for friends and family to watch.

REVISED 2020-2021 DISTRICT CALENDAR
In light of the significant changes school districts have incurred due to the COVID-19 virus, The State Board granted exemption from state law regarding school start date.
With this provision the school board approved a revised school calendar for the 2020-2021 school year. The first day of school next year will be Thursday, August 13.
The entire calendar can be viewed below.

Under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020, families that qualify for free or reduced price meals at school may be eligible for a new one-time Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) of up to $302 per child (Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 12) to help cover the cost of meals students have eaten at home on days that schools have been closed. Students can receive P-EBT benefits even if they have been or continue to receive meals provided by the school district during the school closure. If your child was not previously eligible for free or reduced price meals, but you have now lost income, you may be eligible to receive P-EBT benefits (review the P-EBT Eligibility Criteria document below).
The benefit is placed on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card families use to buy food. If you received Food Stamp (SNAP) benefits in March, do not apply for these new/additional benefits. The full $302 will automatically be loaded to your existing EBT card. If you did not receive Food Stamp (SNAP) benefits in March, you must apply for this benefit by June 30, 2020 (see below).
The most efficient way to apply is to submit your application online at EmergencyMealSurvey.com/MO. You will also likely experience a faster approval process. If you’re not able to apply online, you can follow the link below to the paper application. The fillable PDF document can then be emailed or mailed to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). You will find complete instructions and additional details in the letter to families below.
Please review these important documents carefully:
· P-EBT Letter to Families
· P-EBT Eligibility Criteria
· P-EBT Online Application
· P-EBT Paper Application (hard copy to fill out and email or mail to DESE if you’re not able to submit the application online)
· P-EBT Frequently Asked Questions
The Department of Social Services (DSS) will send families a letter indicating they are approved or denied. If you have questions on how to apply for the P-EBT benefit, contact DSS through the online chat feature at mydss.mo.gov or call 855-373-4636. For more information on the EBT card, visit: mydss.mo.gov/food-assistance/ebt.

Graduation Update (Updated 4/21/20)
The Weaubleau School Board and Administration recognizes that the graduation ceremony is an important milestone event in our graduating seniors’ lives. Graduation has been postponed. We recently sent a survey to the Class of 2020 for feedback on contingency plans for graduation since we are not able to hold the ceremony as scheduled on May 8. It was very clear, a strong majority of the class preferred a postponed traditional graduation ceremony over some type of alternative graduation.
We plan to hold graduation on Friday, June 26 at 7:00 if the public health guidelines allow. Our alternative date will be Friday, July 31 @ 7:00. Also, the location will be at the WHS main gym, unless restrictions require alternative locations. If we are still not able to have a traditional graduation on these dates, we will defer to alternate ceremony format on July 31. The details for that ceremony would be based on survey results and guidelines from public health agencies.

The Yearbook needs your help! Without being at school, no spring sports, no social activities we aren't able to take photos. We'd love to have any photos of students playing, learning, having fun during the year, or now. If you can help please send to yearbook@weaubleau.k12.mo.us

Bright Flight Scholarship
The Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (DHEWD) has issued guidance regarding Bright Flight Scholarship requirements for ACT or SAT scores. The following is quoted from DHEWD: “In response to the adjustments made by ACT and the College Board, DHEWD is extending the date on which 2020 seniors may achieve a qualifying ACT score for the Bright Flight Scholarship to the July national test date. The 2020 seniors who achieve a qualifying ACT score on the July national test date and who are otherwise eligible can receive the scholarship. Scores achieved on the July 2020 national test date will also be considered when determining eligibility for this year’s sophomores and juniors, as has always been the case. Accommodations for the 2020 seniors taking the SAT will be announced as information becomes available from the College Board.” The complete statement from DHEWD regarding Bright Flight Scholarship and ACT or SAT scores can be found here.
